In industrial settings, ensuring the safety of workers and the efficiency of operations is essential for maintaining secure work environments. To achieve this, it is necessary to have systems that effectively integrate with the workflows of each environment. In this post, we would like to feature a device designed to manage and monitor one of the essential tools in any industrial space: forklifts. These vehicles are fundamental, since, without them, many manoeuvres would be impossible or extremely difficult. Although they greatly facilitate the transport and handling of heavy loads, they are also the main source of workplace accidents. That’s why at Claitec, we have developed a system to streamline and ease these processes, our Copilot system.

What is Copilot and how does it work?
Copilot is a compact and advanced device, designed to manage and monitor the use of industrial vehicles. Thanks to its integration with other devices developed by Claitec, this system allows controlling the status of vehicles, recording their use, and restricting access to their operation by unauthorised personnel. Furthermore, it maintains a detailed record of fleet activity, which is stored on the Safeyu platform (if available). This facilitates the identification of potential problems, impacts, or accidents, allowing for a quick and effective response to any incident.

Key features
This device is primarily designed to alert the vehicle operator to nearby hazards, ensuring their safety by providing them with real-time information. Copilot is capable of integrating with various Claitec systems, such as the Impact Sensor or the CAS-G2. In both cases, Copilot tracks impacts affecting the vehicle when connected to an Impact Sensor, or alerts to the presence of other vehicles or pedestrians when integrated with a CAS-G2. Copilot keeps the operator constantly informed about the surrounding environment through an intuitive touch screen, ensuring simple and effective interaction.

Another of its main features is the checklist. Through this option, random questions are generated about the vehicle’s status that the operator must answer correctly and under their full responsibility before starting operation. All this information is recorded on the Safeyu platform, allowing for detailed tracking of incidents and operators during each manoeuvre.

Copilot’s Advantages for Operational Safety
Copilot offers numerous advantages for the safety and maintenance of industrial vehicles. Thanks to its ability to connect to other devices, it can integrate various functionalities and alert operators, which helps to significantly reduce the risk of accidents. Additionally, it allows for real-time monitoring of operations and potential incidents during vehicle use, while maintaining strict control over access to its use by unauthorised users.

Copilot optimizes productivity by monitoring vehicles and recording incidents, which allows for quick and effective decision-making, thus increasing operational efficiency. Furthermore, it adds an additional layer of safety through its integrated systems, alerting operators to nearby risks and ensuring a safer work environment.

As detailed in this article, Copilot’s Checklist functionality allows for maintaining a record of the vehicles’ status and any incidents. In this way, not only is the safety of pedestrians and operators increased, but productivity is also improved by ensuring that vehicles operate in optimal conditions.

EIn summary: the Copilot system is an advanced solution, designed not only to improve safety but also the maintenance of forklifts and the optimisation of operations. This system guarantees total control and efficient communication with the different integrated devices and with the Safeyu platform, significantly contributing to creating a safer and more productive work environment.

The video we would like to share today is a continuation of the virtual tour presented previously. Both show that at Claitec, we are constantly striving to achieve the highest levels of excellence in our products and services, always prioritising user support through various channels.

On this occasion, we present both the improved versions such as the TDS (Truck Docking System) , as well as the innovative solutions recently incorporated. Together with those presented in the previous video, these solutions take you on a complete journey that represents Claitec’s proposal and values.

The first of the new products we would like to share with you is the “Truck Inside Dock” – an effective solution which uses a projection on the ground to alert about the presence of a forklift manoeuvrings inside a truck at the loading dock.  In addition, the speed of the vehicle can be controlled using our LSA (Low Speed Area) solution, preventing accidents caused by inappropriate speeds during these manoeuvres.

Then, we have the VSG (Virtual Safety Gate), a solution that projects a luminous sign as a virtual gate indicating the right of way at intersections or when a restricted area is crossed without authorisation. In addition to the luminous simulation, it also generates a high-intensity sound signal to help prevent any distraction or recklessness.

The Crossing Radar is also one of the new products presented in this video. This system uses a radar at intersections with reduced visibility to warn vehicles or pedestrians about the presence of a forklift. It projects a luminous warning on the ground as a vehicle is detected.

As far as forklifts are concerned, our HLS (High Load Sensor) solution addresses the frequent problem of loads with excess height. A sensor feeds the driver constant information about whether the load exceeds the permitted height, improving visibility and preventing collisions.

Another solution used to address risk areas and situations is the so-called Detection Areas, designed for environments where high-risk machinery is frequently used. This solution can prevent serious accidents by stopping a conveyor belt as soon as it detects a person equipped with a personal tag -, hence preventing fatal consequences.

And finally, the latest of our safety solution is the innovative Safeyu platform, a cloud-based platform that allows you to manage all Claitec solutions from one single place, providing a record of all incidents and instructions in real time.

But that is not all, in addition to all the above solutions, we have also created a range of scenes that show our improvements or complement even more our solutions to increase safety.  Some of these scenes include the TDS (Truck Docking System) – with improved functions -, and the PSG (Pedestrian Safety Gate), which is shown in operation together with limiting barriers to manage traffic more efficiently.

We hope you enjoy this new journey and invite you to share, comment, and contact us if you have any questions or inquiries.

The Claitec team continues to grow, and today we are pleased to welcome two new colleagues who are joining to strengthen the different departments. We are excited to introduce Joan and Cristóbal, who will bring their experience and creativity to help us improve every day.

Joan is a creative person, passionate about taking on new projects that present a professional challenge. He has studied a double degree in Industrial Design Engineering and Product Development in Barcelona, and later complemented his education with a master’s degree in Transport Design and Mobility in Torino, Italy.
Before joining Claitec, Joan marketed several of his own design products and developed a boat almost from scratch – quite a challenge! His passion for engineering has led him to become a part of our team.
In his free time, he enjoys mountain biking, hiking, and climbing, as well as going to the cinema, the theater, and spending time with friends and family.
Joan joins the product design department, bringing his experience and technical vision to the team.

Welcome aboard Joan!

Cristóbal has been working in the logistics sector for over twenty years, developing his career in areas as diverse as mass consumption, construction materials, and the industrial sector.
In his free time, he is passionate about traveling, running, and enjoying reading.
With all this experience, Cristóbal joins the logistics and warehouse team to share his knowledge and support the rest of the team.
