This Wednesday, April 28 marks another World Day for Safety and Health at Work, and at Claitec we could not agree more with the motto that the International Labor Organization (ILO) proposes this year: “anticipate, prepare and respond to crises” as well as with its call to “invest today in resilient occupational health and safety systems”.

According to the organisation itself, the Covid-19 pandemic has forced us all to face unprecedented challenges which have severely impacted our workspaces. Given this current situation we need our workplaces to be resilient and to able to cope with this type of crises, both today and in the future. And we need to be able to learn from these experiences and make the most of them.

In turn, this date is a good opportunity to put a focus on the importance of anticipating problems, preparing for, and strengthening our health and safety systems in our workplaces. We need to understand that investment in health and safety at work brings immediate benefits and it allows us to preserve a firm’s most precious asset – the integrity of each of the members of our teams.

Similarly, we should also talk about the leading role acquired by technological solutions that have helped us respond to new needs and highlight the great contribution technology makes in the construction of safer and healthier spaces – from accident prevention to helping avoid further contagion, for instance.

In this sense, at Claitec we are immensely proud to have contributed with the development of a solution that ensures social distancing – the T-10R SD (Social Distance Sensor). Based on the older T-10R, the T-10R SD incorporates a modification designed to alert operators when the programmed safety distance between people in the same room is breached.

This innovative tool focuses on monitoring proximity, in such a way as to maintain the established physical distance between people, helping us preventing contagions. The technology applied in this device is also used to avoid vehicle collisions in the CAS-G2 tool and can be combined with the PAS system, designed to warn drivers when an operator is detected nearby.

In conclusion, on this World Day for Safety and Health at Work, we call for all of us to continue to be responsible and innovative in our search for workspaces with fewer workplace accidents and fewer daily risks. That is where we place our efforts, and we know that by working together we can achieve great results.

Technology, a key ally in our workspaces

On many occasions, the incorporation of technology to our industries is seen as a problem or a challenge, at the very least. Many people and many fields are guided by false misconceptions about the use of technology in different jobs. The notion that technology is here to displace workers and their tasks is one such misconception.

However, it is important to respond to these new situations with calm and information and trying to understand that most of these tools are not designed to displace anyone’s job, but rather, to complement, assist and help people optimise their performance.

Assistance in the event of forgetfulness: We are all humans and inevitably we make mistakes. When we apply technology to our workspaces it assists us in preventing that those moments of distraction end up having serious repercussions at work, causing accidents or losses we can regret. The T-10R Badge tag is a clear example of this. An adaptation of the T-10R tag , this device is also a card holder which allows the operator to carry only one object that includes both the security tag and the personal identification card. Thanks to this technology any possible human errors, oversights, or losses – which are generally the causes of accidents or similar problems – are easily prevented.
Accident response: We all take our accident prevention role very seriously. However, accidents do happen and in those cases we need to have the tools to respond and continue to preserve the health and safety of our people. That’s why at Claitec we have developed a range of tools that are activated only when the operator has an accident. One of these is the FPS (Fall Protection System). In the event of a worker falling, this device automatically and instantaneously stops the machine from operating, thus preventing even greater risks.
Overall support: Technology is a very intelligent ally to lend us a hand when humans can’t find the solution to very challenging situations. To illustrate this, let us talk about the PAS and LSA devices. Both of these can be easily adapted to work at -30°C, providing safety for workers in these harsh environments and thus preventing nasty accidents.

Safe visitors with the Tag T-10R Badge

Visitor control is always a complex issue in our industries as it involves people who are generally unfamiliar with the operation of the place, the dynamics of the facilities or the risks they may face when driving without the corresponding safety measures. This post introduces an extremely helpful solution to protect and control visitors in our industries – the T-10R Badge.

This tag has been widely used to control visitors. It has provided excellent results for many of our clients by improving workplace safety and reducing accidents. As reported by them, this is an especially useful and practical tool in visitor protection.

Generally, when the person registers as a visitor, they are given a T-10R Badge tag together with their credentials. In this way, and only by carrying a card, the visitor is protected from forklifts and loading machines in warehouse areas and frequent manoeuvring of heavy equipment.

To understand how it works, it is important to highlight that the T-10 R Badge tag consists of an adaptation of the new T-10R tag and incorporates the functionality of being a card holder. Therefore, it is more difficult for the operator or visitor to forget it, or even drop it or lose it.

Regarding its composition, it is worth saying that this tag is a long-lasting active RFID device that can be placed on any asset or person, allowing it to be precisely detected by the AC-50 Activator. It combines dual passive and active RFID technology, which allows our clients to maintain the functionality of the existing access control, adding PAS (Pedestrian Alert) security.

It also stands out for its robust design and general durability, which makes it suitable to face the daily work frenzy and to be exposed to different blows or movements without risking damage or generating failures. The T-10R Badge has a battery that can be recharged wirelessly, adding more convenience and safety for the operator as it ensures that the tag always has enough power. As if all this was not enough, this new piece features high-intensity LED lighting, which helps in rapid detection and ensures visibility of the person or asset carrying the tag.

The T-10R Badge has a vibration system, which adds warning channels in the presence of another person or vehicle nearby. This also warns about any situation of special care or risk. Together with this, the tag generates a high intensity sound warning, completing a wide range of alert channels. As a last point, we must talk about the duration of your battery, which can be up to a month, always depending on the use and other factors of incidence.

We leave a hard and challenging year behind, and it is now full steam ahead for a great 2021!

In the first few weeks of this new year there still seem to be many questions and challenges ahead, but we also feel extremely proud to have overcome an exceedingly difficult 2020. We are leaving behind a year no one could have imagined it would be that hard and complex, a year that changed our routines, that put us to the test and impacted us all very closely one way or another. A year, however, that also helped us to learn, to appreciate the importance of being united and to show care and concern for those around us.

Now, as we begin a new year, we consider it important look at the positive side of what we left behind and review some of the achievements of the team at Claitec:

First, in 2020 we were able to develop some highly innovative systems with great contribution to occupational safety, such as the Crossing Guard, a device that gets installed in the upper areas of a warehouse to help avoid collisions at intersections.

Similarly, the VAS System, an innovative system that warns pedestrians and/or forklift drivers in risk situations by projecting signals on the ground. These are just two of the many innovations developed by Claitec.

In addition, we also developed the new PAS Plug & Play System (Connection Box), an evolution of the classic PAS System with the main novelty being that the entire system works with connectors and it is extremely easy to install. This system also includes the so-called Connection Box, a tool that allows to feed and interconnect different Claitec solutions, such as the PAS and CAS-G2, as well as to associate and configure different alert elements such as a pilot light, buzzer or signal Slow Down.

Then, and considering the multiple challenges posed by the pandemic, we are also proud that we were able to respond with tools tailored to these very specific needs. For example, we devised the TAG T-10R SD (Social Distance sensor), based on our T-10R system, but modifying it to alert workers when the programmed safety distance between people working in the same room is not respected. We also shared multiple recommendations to maintain hygiene and health in workspaces.

Thus, thanks to your trust, and thanks to the conviction that we were able to achieve great progress working together, we have gone through and overcome an extremely difficult year, and we are now ready to build a great 2021 together. We are 100% sure that by being together and taking care each other, we can overcome any challenge.

The autonomy of the T-10R Tag

As you’re probably aware of, the Tag T-10R is the last step in the T-10 Tag evolution.

As such, it presents several improvements over its previous version, including:

Range radius’ better performance
Ease of detection
Month-long autonomy battery with wireless recharging capabilities.

All of these features have been designed to make your daily tasks a lot easier.

Our customers see wireless charging and extensive battery life as a great ally to achieving more effective and productive days in their workplaces. This is because, although the average battery life ranges may vary, they are always around the 30 to 50 days mark – when fully charging in 4 hours and withstanding up to 500 cycles of full charges.

In a warehouse or chain production situation, the average life expectancy for the tag’s battery intensively being used every day is about 30 days. In the case of a forklift driver or pedestrian with a similiarly intensive use of the tag, the estimated average duration is 40 days. And finally, for an office user who might only use the tag when visiting the warehouse, the average battery life is 50 days.

In other words: great autonomy and practicality!

Functionalities

It’s also important to highlight that the T-10R Tag features high-intensity LED lighting, which helps with rapid detection and visibility of the person wearing the tag. The light it generates has a 360º angle so it can be perceived from all the surroundings in which it is located providing more safety to the work space and helping prevent accidents at work.

In addition, the tag has a vibration system, which is incorporated as a new alert route for operators in the presence of another person or vehicle. It also generates a high intensity audible warning, completing a wide range of alert forms which considerably assist in improving safety in the industry.

The T-10R Tag also stands out because is extremely resistant, making it an ideal component to be used in industries and work areas where operators coexist with cargo vehicles and large machinery.

One of the most common questions we get asked by our customers is whether Claitec offers high visibility vests to assist in the safety and accident prevention in our industries.

To answer this pressing question, in this post we would like to discuss the perfect solution – a vest with a pocket specially designed to insert a T-10R Tag for the detection of people.

A high visibility safety vest with a built-in pocket for the T-10 and T-10R Tags, which is available at very affordable costs with significant discounts for wholesale purchases.

The vest comes with a unique functionality that locks the pocket where the tag is contained to ensure that the operator does not remove it or loses it, providing additional protection and avoiding the risk of any distractions. How to keep the recommended social distance in our workplace- Introducing the T-10RSD

In the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, businesses returning to work need to reinvent themselves in order to minimise the risk of spreading the virus. More than ever it is imperative we maintain respect and solidarity between people in order to return to work in this “new normal” that appears to be here for a long time.

The team at Claitec wants to contribute to these challenging times with a proactive attitude, introducing new proposals to ensure that the industry goes on and it’s able to continue to work safely and with all possible health guarantees.

According to all experts, while there’s no efficient vaccine to alleviate the disease, the best way to minimise infections between individuals is to maintain a physical distance.

That’s why today we would like to present our new T-10R SD (Social Distance sensor) solution based on our T-10R system. We have modified it to alert workers when the preprogramed safety distance protocols are breached.

1. What is the T-10R SD system?

The T-10R SD is a proximity monitoring solution designed to maintain the physical distance established between people within the same workplace (offices, warehouses, logistics centres, workshops, etc.).

2. What devices can be it used with? We have two solutions.

The T-10RSD tag is a long-lasting active RFID device intended to ensure a safety perimeter of 2m between people (the distance recommended by health authorities).

The T-10RSD Badge is an adaptation of the T-10RSD tag, which also acts as a card holder. The operator only needs to carry a single device that includes the safety tag and the personal identification card.

3. How does it work?

All the person needs to do is to carry the tag to establish a safety perimeter of 2 to 4m. When another person (who is also carrying the tag) enters the 4m safety perimeter, the tag will turn on the orange light as a warning signal.

If the person comes closer than the 2m social distance, the tag will beep and turn on the red light as a warning signal for people to physically separate and minimise the risk of spreading the virus.

Please note that the distances are configurable.

The T-10R Tag, a renewed component that bolsters the PAS System

A lot of our clients often ask us about the characteristics and differences between the T-10 Tag and the T-10R Tag as they appear to be very similar products at first glance.

So, in this post we want to highlight their differences and the many unknown advantages of the T-10R Tag.

Both the T-10 and the T-10R Tags are small long-lasting active RFID devices.

They are placed in vehicle or carried by persons to be accurately detected by the AC-50 Activator – which is part of our successful PAS (Pedestrian Alert) System.

The T-10R Tag is an evolution of the T-10 Tag and presents several improvements over its previous version. For instance: we’ve improved both its reach radio and its ease of detection.

It also incorporates a battery with a minimum autonomy of a month and it’s rechargeable wirelessly. This is extremely helpful in making daily tasks easier.

Similarly, the T-10R Tag presents high intensity LED lighting, which helps rapid detection and ensures the visibility of the person wearing the tag.

The light generated by the T-10R Tag has a 360°angle, allowing it to be perceived from anywhere it is located, providing higher levels of safety to that workspace and helping to avoid accidents at work.

In addition, the tag has a vibration system, which acts as additional warning for operators in the presence of another person or vehicle. It also generates a high intensity audible warning, thus providing a wide range of warning systems and improving safety standards in the industry.
