One of Claitec’s key missions since its inception has been to continuously improve the safety and health standards in all industries, as well as to prevent work accidents involving operators and machinery. We do so by comprehensively understanding the workspaces we work with, and developing solutions that complement each other, creating safer places and providing better results for our clients.

In this video we invite you to discover how some of our solutions can be perfectly integrated and work harmoniously in a workspace to achieve greater safety and efficiency. We suggest you imagine a journey through the industry and appreciate how the different solutions are activated:

Your journey starts with a forklift travelling around a warehouse to unload a truck. Shortly after, an operator leaves the safety zone to encounter the moving vehicle. This action automatically triggers the PAS System (Pedestrian Alert System), warning the driver that it detected a person nearby. This system can differentiate between objects and people, and it can detect an operator even behind a wall or a shelf.

Continuing with our tour, we notice another forklift entering the warehouse and immediately activating the innovative Roof Radar – a safety system that automatically reduces the speed of a vehicle as it enters a building. The way it works is that when the radar detects the ceiling, it automatically selects the low speed in the vehicle to regulate traffic and avoid accidents in closed spaces. When leaving the roof space, the Roof Radar deactivates on its own.

In that same depot we now see the TCS traffic control system in operation in action. A pedestrian is moving through his safety zone until reaching a crossing where the Pedestrian Safety Gate (PSG) indicate he must stop as a forklift is in circulation. As soon as the vehicle has gone, the traffic light turns green, and the Pedestrian Safety Gate (PSG) allow our pedestrian to move forward.

The vehicle then comes to an intersection just as another forklift approaches. It is at this moment that our CAS-G2 System is activated, a tool designed to avoid collisions between forklifts. This system allows a vehicle to detect another with the same solution already installed, alerting drivers to take the necessary precautions. The CAS-G2 has a configurable range of up to 40 meters, and it can detect vehicles even in blind spots.

Then, we see a forklift moving down an aisle loading or unloading merchandise. When it reaches the end of the aisle, and as it converges on a main warehouse’s path, the risk of a collision in this treacherous location increases considerably. That’s when the Crossing Guard System comes into action, warning from above through visual alerts – be it traffic lights, blue spot projection or the VAS Projector (safety alert display) to alert the driver about whether or not he has rite of passage permit, guaranteeing its integrity.

We can also see how the NAS system provides safety in that same warehouse as in all warehouses with narrow aisles, minimising the risk of collision between forklifts in areas with reduced spaces. If a forklift intends to enter an aisle where another vehicle is already operating, it will immediately be warned by a traffic light signal indicating that it cannot continue its course. If the forklift remains in the aisle, the traffic light will indicate its presence in the area to the rest of the vehicles or pedestrians approaching the place.

Today’s tour concludes with the TDS System in action for unloading of vehicles – a safety system which minimises the risks of being run over at loading docks. This tool consists of a traffic light that warns the forklift driver when operators are present. In this case, the dock is equipped with detection sensors, which emit signals that the traffic light passes on to the operators and drivers, avoiding risks and accidents.

One of our missions at Claitec is to keep our team and processes in a continuous state of improvement. We are constantly searching for and designing new ways to strengthen our tools and enhancing our portfolio. The product we are proud to present today is the result of this tireless search. Our new long-range antenna reinforces the capabilities of our solutions and provides different alternatives for the control of safety in our workspaces, helping to reduce and avoid workplace accidents.

The new long-range antenna is compatible with all of Claitec’s vehicle, people and property detection systems. It emits a LF field that warns of the presence of people or machinery within its range.

This new type of long-distance antenna is installed in the vehicle or machine that incorporates the PAS (Pedestrian Alert System) and thanks to its new design, it is now capable of detecting at a range of up to 11 meters, compared to the standard LF antenna’s detection range of up to 6,5 meters.

In other words, with the new antenna we are expanding the use of the different Claitec systems – particularly in larger vehicles (over 3,5 tons and higher speeds) -, and in situations where more detection distance is required.

Claitec’s new antenna features several characteristics that make it ideal for work in industrial environments:

  • IP67
  • Temperature range from -40ºC to + 85ºC
  • High degree of shock absorption
  • Easy installation thanks to its integrated support, among others points in its favour

Strengthening the PAS and TCS Systems.

The Pedestrian Alert System (PAS) is a solution that warns truck drivers when it detects a person at adjustable distances. This unique system is capable of differentiating between people and objects, and it even detects workers who are behind a wall or a shelf. The PAS is highly used and valued by our customers, and now, thanks to this new antenna, we are almost doubling its range capacity, going from 6,5 to 11 meters in total.

AThis new antenna also provides extremely positive results for the TCS Solution (a Traffic Control System that differentiates pedestrians and forklifts in the same workspace), allowing for broader controls, earlier warnings and improving the coexistence of machines and people, thus reducing risks and avoiding workplace accidents.

The coexistence between forklifts and pedestrians is one of the most challenging aspects of the safety of our workplaces. The team at Claitec is continually devising ways to help us overcome the risks that it generates. We know that speed is related to safety, but we are also aware that productivity demands are important, and our latest solution finds the perfect balance.

Meet, the Roof Radar!

Roof Radar is a safety system that automatically reduces the speed of a vehicle when it enters a building. As soon as the radar detects a roof, it immediately selects the low speed on the forklift until it leaves that space again.

In other words, the forklift can return from carrying out tasks in an open space without pedestrians, such as the loading and unloading of merchandise on a beach, and as it enters the warehouse or work area where there are pedestrians about, it will automatically modify its speed without requiring any action from the driver. The Roof Radar prevents the possible negative effects of a forgetful or distracted operator in relation to the speed of the machine.

The Roof Radar complements the safety features of the vehicle and can be integrated into any type of forklift. Thanks to a sensor based on radar technology, this innovative solution from Claitec is capable of detecting superstructures (i.e. ceilings) in a range of up to 24 meters.

The Roof Radar comes with four settings for radar’s reaction time and eight settings for its detection range, which means that this device can work even in the most complex operating conditions. The sensitivity of the transmitter ensures that small superstructures such as bridges, tree canopies and pipes do not cause any unnecessary reduction in forklift speed.

The device can be easily installed in the driver’s cab or on the vehicle’s protective roof. The detection zone distance, sensitivity and output settings can be easily selected on the Roof Radar.

The team at Claitec is constantly seeking ways to solve our clients’ challenges and to improve upon the tools currently available for them to do so. The AV-30 – the next step in the evolution of the AV-50 verification antenna – is the result of this pursuit.

The purpose of the AV-50 device is to verify the status of the batteries and the correct functioning of the active tags’ RF communication in a certain workspace. Using additional software and a USB device connected to a computer, this tool allows the date and time of the verified tags to be recorded.

In addition to the verification antenna, the AV-50 can be used as an Access Control. This function is now improved thanks to the AV-30, which can send an output signal that activates an electromagnet and can also have a potential-free relay to activate other elements, such as an automatic door, a pilot light, or a traffic light.

The AV-30 delivers different innovative solutions compared to the AV-50, including:

  • It is a more compact solution.
  • It can perform both functions i.e., antenna verification and access control.
  • It is powered at 100 – 240 VAC through an IP68 connector.
  • It is easier to install, saving time and increasing efficiency.
  • It can be mounted on the wall and on a pole aided by several accessories.

There is no denying that automatic guided vehicles – also known as AGVs – are extremely useful tools in our industries. However, just as we recognise them for their value and efficiency, it is good to ensure that other operators in the same perimeters are aware of their presence. That is why in today’s post we want to put the focus on a tool that is fast becoming a key ally in the safe inclusion of AGVs and operating manual forklifts in the same environment – the CAS-G2 Truck Anti-Collision System.

Mitsubishi Logisnext Europe Oy (MLE Oy), – manufacturer of traditional warehouse trucks, automated guided vehicles (Rocla AGV), and electric heavy load forklifts – has been using the CAS-G2 system to warn drivers when other vehicles are detected. The company has achieved excellent results with its own AGVs and with those of one of their own clients who was also seeking to guarantee the safety of AGVs in areas shared with forklifts.

MLE installed the CAS-G2 system in AGVs with the group function, allowing them to ignore or leave those devices that belong to the same group undetected. This means that two AGVs in the same group are able to efficiently carry out their operations coordinated by traffic control even in close vicinity but each one of them will detect vehicles outside of that pre-established category, such as forklifts configured to be located by any CAS-G2 system. So, when an AGV detects a manual forklift in the proximity of the CAS-G2 device, it  does not accelerate, but keeps the current speed and emits lights signals. This gives the forklift driver a visual cue about the nearby AGV. Should the distance decrease further between the two vehicles, the AGV will continue sending the light signals and stop. In this specific case, the customer did not choose to add the function of an audio buzzer on the manual forklift to support the visual signals of the AGV.

The Groups function of the CAS-G2 equipment allows us to create four groups of machines in the same workplace: A, B, C and D. This function helps us differentiate machines that belong to different groups, which, for example, are performing different tasks in the same space, not only gaining efficiency in conducting the task but also preventing work accidents and safety incidents. For instance, when this function is running, the “Type A” device only sees the “Type B” device and vice versa. Meanwhile, if the group function is disabled, the CAS-G2 device detects any CAS-G2 device in the detection area.

The CAS-G2 forklift anti-collision system is an electronic safety development that evolves from Claitec’s CAS system. A state-of-the-art tool designed to warn forklift drivers when it detects other cargo vehicles in nearby areas and considers them at risk.

The coexistence between forklifts or large machinery and pedestrians is one of the more complex safety issues in the large workspaces where we operate. Our latest solution has been specifically designed to assist in minimising this problem: The Pedestrian Safety Gate (PSG), a safety gate designed to reduce risk situations in this type of environments.

The PSG system has two main functions: to ensure the safe crossing of pedestrians and to deter the access of inappropriately protected persons.

The gates can be easily combined with the TCS Traffic Control system, easily and automatically interacting with Claitec’s devices to prevent pedestrians from crossing in the presence of a forklift, even in low visibility areas.

The PSG system can be supplied with different accessories, such as traffic lights or other indicator lights, sensors and manual emergency buttons.

The access control version can be combined with the AV-30, to allow the passage of pedestrians equipped with a Tag (T-10 or T-10R), which works correctly and has enough battery.

The PSG is a durable and reliable system specially designed for the protection of pedestrians in all types of industries. The design of these safety gates is also optimised to be able to be easily replaced or integrated to previously installed fences. As “telescopic doors” they have a sensory length of 750 to 1000mm. They stand out for their ease of installation and levelling, as well as their ease in changing the opening direction. If necessary, a traffic light can also be installed to complement the role of the gates.

The PSG will be your greatest ally in improving safety in your workspaces and in significantly reducing the chances of vehicles running over pedestrians and the number of accidents at work between forklifts or large machinery and operators, both in warehouses and in loading areas. and discharge, or industries of all kinds, particularly in low visibility workspaces.

It goes without saying that the day-to-day tasks in our industries are intense and complex. That is precisely why we need technology to become our ally – a true partner to provides us with simple solutions and to make things easier for all of us. A partner which, ultimately, will allow us to create safer workplaces. With this notion in mind, and from our constant dialogue with our customers, at Claitec we have developed the innovative Connection Box Plug & Play.

This new system makes the installation of all Claitec devices on loading trucks even easier, eliminating one less task from your to-do-list and considerably reducing the number of hours you spend installing and configuring devices. The Plug & Play system greatly simplifies connections, saving you time and efficiency. The DC/DC converter is also incorporated into this new system, with its Simple Buzzer functionality. Not only that! The innovative Plug & Play system does not require any external relays.

The new Connection Box enables different Claitec solutions to be fed and interconnected – from the PAS (Pedestrian Alert System) to the CAS-G2 (Collision Avoidance System) – as well as having the capability to associate and configure different alert elements for operators, such as a pilot light, a buzzer or a Slow Down signal.

Meanwhile, and as a result of the development of the Connection Box, we have also launched new versions of the PAS and CAS-G2 systems, which incorporate the connectors that link it to the Plug & Play system.

We know that the intense daily dynamics of our workplaces sometimes lead to confusion and forgetfulness, but we are also aware that the slightest human error can lead to serious work accident. At Claitec, we continually seek to develop technological tools that complement and facilitate the work of our collaborators adding safety levels to the work of our forklift drivers. Our latest example is the Active Inhibitor, a forklift driver’s key ally.

The Active Inhibitor consists of an electronic device that is installed next to the driver’s seat to inhibit his key fobs as he enters the vehicle. In this way, the drivers’ key fob will not be detected, and for the rest of the systems it will appear that only the forklift is circulating, thus avoiding problems or cross detections that reduce the effectiveness and pace of work.

In other words, this tool and its functionalities allow the operator to drive the forklift safely and to keep the Pedestrian Detection system activated in order to avoid accidents when circulating in the work area or neighbouring spaces.

In addition, it should be noted that the main advantage between the mobile T-10 inhibitor and the fixed inhibitor is that the driver does not have to perform any operation to be inhibited inside the cabin, being an ideal complement and a great ally for his or her workdays. And once the operator leaves the forklift, the tag will be operational again without requiring any other action.

Developed directly by Claitec’s R&D’s analysis and observation of the behaviours and experiences of users and drivers from various industries, Claitec’s Active Inhibitor is a perfect complement to its current range of existing inhibitors.

Visitor control is always a complex issue in our industries as it involves people who are generally unfamiliar with the operation of the place, the dynamics of the facilities or the risks they may face when driving without the corresponding safety measures. This post introduces an extremely helpful solution to protect and control visitors in our industries – the T-10R Badge.

This tag has been widely used to control visitors. It has provided excellent results for many of our clients by improving workplace safety and reducing accidents. As reported by them, this is an especially useful and practical tool in visitor protection.

Generally, when the person registers as a visitor, they are given a T-10R Badge tag together with their credentials. In this way, and only by carrying a card, the visitor is protected from forklifts and loading machines in warehouse areas and frequent manoeuvring of heavy equipment.

To understand how it works, it is important to highlight that the T-10 R Badge tag consists of an adaptation of the new T-10R tag and incorporates the functionality of being a card holder. Therefore, it is more difficult for the operator or visitor to forget it, or even drop it or lose it.

Regarding its composition, it is worth saying that this tag is a long-lasting active RFID device that can be placed on any asset or person, allowing it to be precisely detected by the AC-50 Activator. It combines dual passive and active RFID technology, which allows our clients to maintain the functionality of the existing access control, adding PAS (Pedestrian Alert) security.

It also stands out for its robust design and general durability, which makes it suitable to face the daily work frenzy and to be exposed to different blows or movements without risking damage or generating failures. The T-10R Badge has a battery that can be recharged wirelessly, adding more convenience and safety for the operator as it ensures that the tag always has enough power. As if all this was not enough, this new piece features high-intensity LED lighting, which helps in rapid detection and ensures visibility of the person or asset carrying the tag.

The T-10R Badge has a vibration system, which adds warning channels in the presence of another person or vehicle nearby. This also warns about any situation of special care or risk. Together with this, the tag generates a high intensity sound warning, completing a wide range of alert channels. As a last point, we must talk about the duration of your battery, which can be up to a month, always depending on the use and other factors of incidence.

We all know that intersections in warehouses are high risk places where occupational safety problems, collisions or similar accidents take place frequently. In this post, we will be discussing the many benefits of the Crossing Guard system, an innovative solution currently generating tremendous results in the prevention of accidents in industries.

The Crossing Guard is installed in the upper areas of a warehouse to help prevent collisions at intersections. Specifically, the operation of this device is based on the cargo vehicle or the operator approaching the intersection area receiving visual alerts from the traffic lights and the image shown by the VAS projector, indicating whether they have permission to cross or otherwise, thus providing further safety information for the user to make a decision that can help him or her prevent an accident.

This solution – developed by Claitec at the express request of one of our clients – borrows some of the elements already present on the market, while incorporating a series of unique developments and innovations from our own company with the goal of achieving a product that really makes a difference in terms of improving job safety levels.

The Crossing Guard device uses radar technology capable of differentiating persons from vehicles and identifying whether a forklift is approaching an intersection or if it is moving away from it. With this modern technology, it is no longer necessary for operators or vehicles to carry a device to be detected since the system locates them on its own.

This is also a programmable system which can not only be configured to suit the client’s needs – the VAS System and several other of our systems such as the PAS and the CAS-G2 can also be incorporated into the Crossing Guard.

A device which also stands out for:

  • Its robust aluminium structure.
  • Mounting height of 3 to 7 meters.
  • Its extremely easy handling even at a height.
  • A maximum detection speed of 25 km/h for vehicles.

In addition, the innovative separation fins of the equipment’s design allow no more than one traffic light to be seen from each angle, in such a way as not to generate confusion. It is easily prepared to be hung by tensioners or using a support with VESA standard holes.

Several models of the Crossing Guard are available, either with Bluespot or with the VAS System which comes in 2, 3 and 4 faces with traffic lights. Our team will gladly recommend which one of these best suits the needs of your workspace.
